5-Piece Sterling Tea Service (includes sterling waiter tray) – Blossom by Georg Jensen - Denmark
One of the first hollowware designs created by Georg Jensen in 1905, The Blossom Pattern has become synonymous with an object of art rather than just a tea service. From the three-dimensional 'pod like' finials to the delicate four toed feet on each piece, one can only image the endless creativity Georg Jensen had to offer in his silversmith career. Similar sets are on display as the Danish Museum of Decorative Art, the Victoria Albert Museum, England, and the National Gallery in Australia. This set bears the mark of 'Georg Jensen' topped with a crown, indicating it was produced between 1925-1932. Georg Jensen died three years later in 1935. The Coffee Pot measures 8 1/4 inches and holds 39 ounces and is marked 2D, the tea pot measures 5 1/8 inches and holds 27 1/8 ounces and is marked 2C, the sugar bowl (with lid) #2D is 4 1/2 half inches in height, and the creamer #2D is 2 3/4 inches in height. The Waiter Tray measures 19 3/8 inches by 14 1/8 inches and is marked 2F.
