GREENSBORO, N.C., March, 2005 – The American Spoon Collectors will be holding their annual retreat at Replacements, Ltd. March 31st through April 3rd. Spooners from the United States and Canada are bringing prized collections of spoons to display and trade with fellow members. The hobby of collecting spoons , known as Spooning , began in 1890 when cities and states created souvenir spoons to promote tourism. Today collections include, states, state flowers, historic monuments and political leaders. This will be the ASC’s first trip to Greensboro and a rare opportunity to hold this retreat in a building that houses the world’s largest collection of tableware.
