Replacements, Ltd. Recognized as One of Top U.S. Companies for Workplace Equality

GREENSBORO, N.C., October 4, 2010 – For the ninth consecutive year, the Human Rights Campaign Foundation has awarded Replacements, Ltd. a perfect score on its Corporate Equality Index (CEI). Replacements is the only North Carolina based company that has achieved a 100 percent rating every year since the index began in 2002. The Greensboro retailer is one of only 11 companies in the nation that have received a perfect score all nine years.

The foundation is the educational arm of the nation’s largest gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) civil rights organization. The annual report rates on a scale from zero to 100 percent how major American companies treat GLBT employees, consumers and investors. The CEI 2011 evaluates more than 800 businesses on factors such as non-discrimination policies, diversity training and benefits for domestic partners and transgender employees. Of that number, 338 companies received a perfect score, an 11 percent increase over last year.

“These numbers clearly indicate that corporate America recognizes employees should be judged on their work performance rather than sexual orientation or other irrelevant issues,” says Replacements’ Founder and CEO Bob Page. “I hope that our lawmakers in Washington and Raleigh will take notice— GLBT-inclusive non-discrimination polices aren’t radical; they aren’t even new ideas. Our workplace laws are way behind on this issue.”

As a top rated business, Replacements, Ltd. will also be included on the HRC’s “Best Places to Work” list. In addition to Replacements, other companies that have achieved a 100 percent rating every year since the HRC started its index include Nike, Apple Computer, Eastman Kodak and J.P. Morgan Chase.
