GREENSBORO, N.C., June 27, 2011 – Have you been hiding grandma’s chipped crystal on the back shelf because you can’t bear the thought of throwing it away? Find out if there’s hope to save damaged pieces from the restoration experts at Replacements, Ltd. The world’s largest retailer of old and new china, crystal, silver and collectibles is offering the company’s first Crystal Repair Clinic July 15 – 16, 2011.

“I think this will be very eye opening because many people don’t realize that in certain cases, crystal can be repaired,” says China/Crystal Restoration Manager Sara Vestal. “Our team will examine and evaluate damaged pieces, determine if they can be fixed and offer repair estimates. Some of the most common repairs include grinding down small chips on the rim or base of glasses and reapplying worn gold or platinum trim.”

If your silver has lost its shine, you’re also in luck. The company will offer its semi-annual Silver Repair Clinic the same weekend.

“In preparation for the holidays, this is a great time to have your silver pieces repaired,” says Keith Winkler, Replacements’ manager of product marketing and business development. “The most common silver repairs we’ve seen from past clinics include disposal damage, dent removal and blade replacement on knives, but our talented silversmiths can give repair options and estimates on other damages as well.”
