Introduction To Glass Collecting – Saturday, June 11th, 2005, 9:30am

Previously offered in both West Virginia and North Carolina, this seminar has, to date, drawn students from 11 states! The seminar is a fun and informative overview of glass history, from ancient times to the present, with a focus on 20th Century American glass. Other topics that will be covered in the seminar include historical flasks, pressed glass, art glass, Depression glass, carnival glass, cut glass and much more. From soda bottles and telephone insulators to elegant etched tableware, this is the basic introductory course from which to learn the language, research resources, and beginning elements of glass collecting. This seminar is great for collectors, dealers, or the simply curious! The presentation will include an explanation of the processes for glassmaking and will be interactive and fun-filled, with hands-on work with dozens of glass types.

The cost to attend this special Replacements event is $25.00 and will include a resource literature packet and a workbook for charting various glass types. The event will start at 9:30am and conclude at 3:30pm. There will be a one-hour break for lunch (not included).
