If you collect Lladro pieces, or have always wanted to because of their elegant beauty and intriguing history, this may be the opportunity you've been waiting for! This month we offer an outstanding selection of Lladro figurines from one of the finest porcelain artisans in the world! There’s something in this collection for every collector!
Lladro has long been recognized for innovative design and skilled artisans. In 1953, three brothers, Juan, Jose, and Vincente Lladro, opened a small workshop in Almerca, a village near the city of Valencia. The brothers first began producing household items like vases and jugs. They did not begin producing the Lladro porcelain figures now known around the world until 1956 – using a unique hard-paste porcelain with glaze ingredients that are kept secret even to this day. After several expansions, the brothers closed their original workshop and moved their business to Tavernes Blanques in 1958. In 1962, the Lladro brothers opened a professional school at their manufacturing site, sharing their knowledge and experience with new generations of artisans. In 1984, Danielle, Mari Carmen, and Juan Vicente Lladro, each of the three a child of each of the three founding brothers, joined the company after completing long and demanding apprenticeships. Today the company is still a family enterprise.
