Stag's Head by Baccarat
|
Known as “The Crystal of Kings” Baccarat’s appellative is well-earned, with its roots being traced back to 1765, when a royal charter from King Louis XV enabled Monseigneur de Montmorency-Laval to open a glassworks factory near the Meurthe River in Baccarat, France. This month, Replacements, Ltd. is offering an extraordinarily rare piece from this world-renowned company.
Baccarat’s
Stag’s Head is a majestic piece of crystal art. This huge crystal piece measures 23 inches long from the tip of the stag’s nose to the end of its antlers, and 16 inches high from the bottom of its base to top of the highest antler. There is an 11 inch span between the tips of the stag’s antlers! Also, the “Stag’s Head” weighs an impressive 32 pounds.
This piece is
beautifully handcrafted based on a design created by Georges Chevalier in 1952. Master designer Chevalier joined the Baccarat team in 1916, and worked for them for several decades. In 1925 he created a waterfall chandelier for the Exposition Internationale des Arts Decoratifs et Industriels Modernes in Paris. This show is considered the birth place of the Art Deco movement. The chandelier was purchased for the Sydney’s Royal Theatre. If you are a lover of Baccarat or a collector of fine crystal art, you cannot afford to pass up this rare opportunity to own crystal similar to that collected by the world’s great monarchs and heads-of-state.
