Old Colonial pattern was inspired by the historic Newburyport area located on the North Shore of Essex County, Massachusetts. In fact, Towle published a pamphlet entitled “The Old Colonial Book of Newburyport and Vicinity," to accompany the
Old Colonial pattern when the pattern debuted in 1895. This book contains a treasure trove of facts about the gracious colonial homes and plantations of the Newburyport settlement.
