This month, we feature Gorham Silver’s Baluster pattern.  This symmetrical design includes groups of parallel lines forming bands on the handle of each piece and a hammered, satin frosted finish.  Baluster is designed in the Arts and Crafts tradition, which was at its peak from 1910 to 1925, occurring between the Art Nouveau and Art Deco periods.  Practitioners of the Arts and Crafts movement created designs that reflected a desire to throw off the bondage of the machines of the Industrial Revolution, using hand-crafted techniques that featured neo-gothic influences, repeating designs, and vertical and elongated forms.  To celebrate this wonderful design, for a limited time we offer a the 5-piece place setting consisting of the dinner knife, fork, salad fork, teaspoon, and place-oval soup spoon.
