Waterford Artisan Cut Crystal Hurricane Lamp

Recently, one of Waterford Crystal’s finest master crystal artisans, Vincent Rellis, visited Replacements, Ltd. as part of a special signing event. This event was held in our 12,000-square-foot Showroom on Thursday, May 1st, 2008. Mr. Rellis’s visit offered our customers an opportunity to purchase Waterford classic stemware, giftware, and collectible pieces that were personally signed by him, using a special engraving tool. As part of this special event, Mr. Rellis engraved several exclusive Waterford Artisan hand-cut crystal hurricane lamps with his signature and date. We still have a limited number of these beautiful engraved Waterford Artisan hurricane lamps, including a white 6-inch candle, available for purchase, while they are in stock. Additionally, we have a few limited-edition Artisan hand-cut crystal vases from the 2007 Waterford Signing Event held at our facilities. These vases are signed and dated by master cutter Tom Power. These gorgeous items can be used as accessory pieces or centerpieces.

As we shared previously, Mr. Rellis currently specializes in Rheintour or “flat cutting.” Waterford has designed entire “suites” or patterns from the Rheintour method. These include Curraghmore, Sheila, and Royal Tara . Mr. Rellis's time is obviously precious, and he makes limited trips to America, so we were quite excited to have him join us at Replacements, Ltd.! Mr. Rellis began his career with Waterford Crystal as an apprentice after seeing five members of his family work for Waterford. In fact, Mr. Rellis’s father was employed by Waterford in 1947. He was the 11th person recruited to work at Waterford’s Ballytruckle facilities. He helped build one of the first production furnaces for Waterford. He went on to become “Senior Furnace Man” and later helped train Waterford’s Master Blowers and Cutters. At the age of 15, Mr. Rellis decided he wanted to follow in the footsteps of his father and several other family members. He applied for an apprenticeship with Waterford. After an intense apprenticeship in the practice of Rheintour, Mr. Rellis became an “Ambassador of Waterford.” He now travels the world, “enlightening customers about the joys of possessing Waterford Crystal.” When at work at Waterford, Mr. Rellis is a stop on the “Waterford Crystal Visitor Experience.” In addition to his love of Waterford Crystal and his love of travel, Mr. Rellis enjoys exercise, like cycling and swimming. He also sings in a local male choir and has appeared in many productions.
