Nautilus by Wedgwood
As a special perfect for summer we’re offering the wonderfully proportioned white porcelain
Nautilus Centerpiece from
Wedgwood. The nautilus shell is mounted atop a clam shell base, and is an outstanding example of company founder Josiah Wedgwood’s personal passion. Wedgwood (1730-1795) was fascinated with conchology, a branch of zoology that concentrates on the study and classification of mollusk shells. A regular on the beaches of England, Wedgwood frequently searched for rare shells to add to his collection. He used these striking organic shapes as models for new pattern designs in china and figurines for his company.
This great summertime centerpiece, ideal for your table, as a room accessory, or as a gift for weddings, house-warmings, birthdays, or anniversaries, coordinates well with a wide range of white or cream-colored dinnerware patterns. Know someone with a beach house or condo? What could make a more thoughtful and enduring gift than the Wedgwood
