“Woodstock for Tableware,” Our Huge Yard Sale, Was a Big Hit!
The Yard Sale gods smiled beneficently upon our Replacements, Ltd. “Woodstock for Tableware” event September 20-21, 2008! The weather was ideal - temperatures in the mid-80s, sunny, and light breezes. The maple trees surrounding our huge yard sale display area (paved for our visitors’ convenience) were already displaying a hint of fall color. Under the trees were row upon row and box after box of china, with happy customers (with a definite passion for our product) rummaging for treasure! Everywhere there were people pulling wagons, dollies, and carts stacked high with corrugated boxes filled to the top with china, each box costing just $5.00, our special pricing for Yard Sale purchases!
Under gaily colored tents were other vendors with all sorts of items for sale, animal rescue groups, fire and rescue support groups, a food and drink concession that gave a portion of proceeds to charity, and much more. At our Sidewalk Sale, customers queued up to check out with their purchases of specially priced Lenox China, holiday items, wooden silver storage cases, and many, many other bargain pieces.
When we opened the gate to the Yard Sale at 7:00am Saturday morning, more than 700 people were already in line! First in line were a mother and two daughters, who had planned their vacation around the Yard Sale and drove all the way from Minnesota to get here. They told us it was all they had expected, and more! (That was very gratifying to hear, especially when someone drives all the way from Minnesota for your event!) Over the two-day period, more than 7,000 individuals visited – we could hardly keep up with directing traffic and parking cars, and our golf cart parking shuttles ran non-stop.
