Replacements, Ltd.
Presentation at Winterthur

"Festive Elegance: Bringing the Holidays Home"

For those of you in the Washington, DC, Philadelphia, and New York City areas, please note on your calendars that Replacements, Ltd. Showroom Supervisor Jill Slatter will be giving three presentations on Tuesday, December 9, 2008, at the beautiful Winterthur Museum & Country Estate in historic Brandywine Valley, DE. With her years of experience at Replacements, Ltd., Jill’s knowledge of china, crystal, silver, and collectibles is beyond compare! Her presentations at Winterthur are entitled “Festive Elegance: Bringing the Holidays Home,” and will feature holiday table settings as well as unusual sterling silver flatware pieces. Jill’s presentations are offered in conjunction with a special Winterthur exhibition, “Feeding Desire: Design and the Tools of Table, 1500-2005,” which runs November 1 through February 1.

Winterthur Museum & Country Estate is the former home of Henry Francis du Pont (1880-1969), an avid antiques collector and horticulturist. In the early 20th century, H. F. du Pont and his father, Henry Algernon du Pont, designed Winterthur in the spirit of 18th- and 19th-century European country houses. The Museum comprises 175 period-room displays that house approximately 85,000 objects. Most rooms are open to the public on small, guided tours. The displays span more than two centuries of American decorative arts and contain some of the most important pieces of American furniture and fine art in the world. The Winterthur Library and Research Center is a magnificent repository of information on American history, decorative arts, and architecture. The Winterthur Museum & Country Estate also provides wonderful educational activities for children. For more information on the special program that includes Replacements, Ltd. Showroom Supervisor Jill Slatter’s presentations, visit www.winterthur.org.
