This month, we feature “Pippin,” a feisty Yorkshire terrier who belongs to Debbie Smith, a member of our Purchasing team. Debbie has worked at Replacements, Ltd. since October of 2005 and she’s had Pippin since April of 1996. How Pippin became a part of Debbie’s family is somewhat emotional. Debbie had previously spent a good deal of time caring for her mother, who ultimately passed away. Following her mother's passing, Debbie began wondering what she would do for companionship. Also, she wanted something to occupy her time. She began researching various pet breeds and decided that a terrier would be well suited to her personality, routine, and living space. She loved the fact that Yorkshire terriers do not shed, are very smart, and are easy to train.
After she made the decision to get a terrier, Debbie found a breeder. Pippin turned out to be the runt of a litter of three males. These males were named Moe, Larry, and Curley. Debbie took Curley home and renamed him Pippin. Looking back, Debbie says that getting Pippin was one of the best decisions she ever made and she believes that Pippin feels that same way. Pippin seems to know when any member of the family is ill or having a bad day. Pippin rushes to give them love and attention. Debbie says that when someone is sick, Pippin becomes hopelessly devoted to that person.
When asked what she liked most about Replacements pet-friendly policy, Debbie had this to say, “I think the pet policy at Replacements, Ltd. is wonderful. Although I do not bring Pippin with me often, I love having that option.”
