Replacements, Ltd. Featured Pet (and Pet Owner!)
This month, we feature a 6-year-old German shepherd mix named “Sampson.” Sampson (or “The Buddha” as he is often called) belongs to Jennifer Terrell, who is currently a member of our Curating staff and has been with Replacements, Ltd. since 2003. Sampson was discovered by David, Jennifer’s husband, in February 2002. He was found scrounging for food at the back of their property. He was too weak to do much of anything for himself, had to be bathed a couple times before the smell was tolerable. A few days later they took him to the vet and he only weighed 7 pounds, but was determined to be approximately 10-12 weeks old. Jennifer and her husband named their dog “Sampson” but for no particular reason began calling him “the Buddha.” Jennifer says, “We started calling him this and it just stuck.”
Needless say he got off to a slow start with Jennifer and her husband. Thanks to their love and patience he is generally healthy. Sampson still experiences some respiratory problems that need to be treated from time to time. Sampson’s favorite activities include chasing birds, raccoons, opossums, and other critters, horse play with his two brothers, two black labs named “Dean” and “Sal,” and playing with the kitties he grew up with. But his favorite past time is sitting on the couch with David and watching football, NASCAR, and
Law and Order reruns. Sampson looks forward to coming to work and will sneak out the door at home and stand by the car waiting to go. He has many friends at Replacements, Ltd. And knows who wants to pet him, who wants to feed him, and who just needs a break from all the chaos of the day.
When asked what she liked most about Replacements pet-friendly policy, Jennifer had this to say, “Although, I do not bring Sampson everyday, I enjoy the benefit of being able to bring him when I want and he definitely enjoys getting out and experiencing other people, both the 2 and 4 legged varieties.”
