Featured Pet (and Pet Owner!)
This issue we have a new puppy in our Replacements, Ltd. family! Little “Callie” is a five-month-old Westipoo, West Highland Terrier and Poodle mix. Her owners are Amy Fisher, copy editor/production coordinator for our publication,
Silver Magazine, and her husband, Rob Fisher, maintenance, repair, and operations buyer for the company. Both Amy and Rob have been with Replacements, Ltd. since 1995.
When Amy and Rob’s 14-year-old Sheltie, “Kayla,” passed away about four years ago, it took them a while to get over the loss. Last year, they started talking about the possibility of getting another dog, but couldn’t agree on the breed. Rob wanted a big dog and Amy wanted one that wouldn’t shed! They got really motivated to search for a new pet when their children, Andrew (11) and Katie (8), said they wanted a dog for Christmas. A coworker at Replacements, Ltd. recommended a breeder. Two weeks before the holidays, the whole family went off to pick out a puppy. Callie’s litter was only four weeks old at the time. The Fishers chose her because she was very curious and her tail wagged the entire visit. After Rob, Amy, Andrew, and Katie made their choice, the breeder tied a “Carolina Blue” ribbon around Callie’s neck. Why Carolina Blue? Rob and Amy, both Florida State fans, had planned on attaching a red ribbon. But son Andrew made his opinion known, so it was Carolina Blue for Callie from that moment on. The Fishers visited Callie once a week until she was eight weeks old, when she was big enough to come to her new home. Rob and Amy agree that it’s been “interesting” having a puppy in the house again, but they love Callie and wouldn’t change a thing about her – well…perhaps if she could let them know a little sooner when she needs to go outside!
Of the pet-friendly policy at Replacements, Ltd., Rob and Amy said, “We struggled with the decision on whether we wanted to have another dog, but working at Replacements, Ltd. made the choice that much easier. The company’s pet-friendly policy and atmosphere have really helped in socializing Callie with people and other dogs. We knew that we couldn’t bear to leave her in a crate all day long – so it has been a joy to bring her to work with us.”
