Precious and Angie Yarber

“Precious” is a 9-year-old female Siberian husky owned by Andrea (“Angie”) Yarber. Angie is an inventory control specialist in our Fulfullment Operations Department and has been employed at Replacements, Ltd. for nine years.

Angie had wanted a dog from the time she was a child, but her mother wouldn’t allow it. So when Angie became a mother herself, she wanted her children to enjoy the opportunity she never had, especially when her children asked time after time if they could have a pet. Then one day at Replacements, Ltd. on a bulletin board in one of the break rooms there was a note advertising husky puppies for sale. Angie had always liked huskies and decided she had to have one.

“I was so happy to take the new puppy home,” Angie said. Her two sons were jumping up and down with happiness, and her daughter fell to her knees and gave thanks. But Angie’s husband had other ideas. At the time the family lived in a home they rented. Her husband was concerned that the landlord wouldn’t be pleased with a dog on the property. He stood in the doorway as she approached and said, “No, Angie.” But Angie simply put the puppy in his arms. Her husband couldn’t resist the husky’s cute little face and baby blue eyes – it was love at first sight. In fact, it was Angie’s husband who gave the puppy her name! “He called her Precious because that’s what she is!” Angie said.

Children being children, Angie’s kids lost interest in the puppy fairly quickly. Precious became Angie’s shadow and followed her everywhere she went. A strong bond between the two developed. “She became like one of my kids,” Angie said. “She is a joy to have.” While it was difficult taking care of three young children and a puppy, Angie has never regretted it. “Now the kids are older and so is Precious,” Angie said. “I enjoyed seeing them all grow up together.”

About the Replacements, Ltd. pet-friendly policy, Angie said, “It gave me the opportunity to spend more time with Precious and to see all the other pets. Replacements, Ltd. has been a blessing, because if I had never had the opportunity to come and work here, then I never would have met my baby, Precious. It all worked out and I am so thankful.”
