Featured Pet (and Pet Owner!)
“Romeo,” our featured pet, is aptly named! In spite of his stature, 8 inches tall at the shoulder, and weight, 4 1/2 pounds soaking wet, little Romeo at age 9 months is quite the lady’s man (wooing both the canine and human variety), according to his owner, Amy Pickett. Amy, Executive Assistant to our VP for Customer Service Operations and our Chief Information Officer, has been employed at Replacements, Ltd. since 1996.
Amy’s three-year old daughter has always enjoyed looking out the family’s back porch door at their two Dalmatians, “Chloe” and “Hannah.” But Amy and her husband, Brian, felt the two big dogs were too rambunctious to be around their daughter safely. So Amy arranged an affair of the heart between her mother-in-law’s female Yorkshire Terrier, “Annie,” and “Marco,” a Poodle here at Replacements, Ltd. owned by Sherry and Juan Pinedo. Voila! Three months later, Annie gave birth to a litter of three puppies. Romeo of course stayed with Amy and Brian, the second pup went to a friend of the family who had recently lost a pet, and the third went to a former Replacements, Ltd. employee. Romeo comes to work each day with Amy, gets spoiled beyond belief, and is willing to share his favors with any female (pooch or person) who expresses interest. And Amy’s daughter is as “pleased as punch” with her little “Romie!”
“When I learned we could bring pets to work, I remember being truly astonished,” Amy says of our Replacements, Ltd. pet-friendly policy. “At the time I only had my two Dalmatians. I tried bringing them in to work, but as active as they are, they were better left at home in the fenced backyard. But I started bringing Romie in when he was only 8 weeks old. It’s been fabulous for his socialization! He’s so used to being around other dogs and people in general. He can’t wait until Monday mornings when he gets to come to work to greet his favorite people and puppies around the building ‘waggingly.’ Our pet-friendly policy is a great benefit to employees and a great benefit to pets!”
“It’s fascinating to work at the largest new and old tableware retailer in the world,” Amy continues. “I take great pride in our unique business and connecting a customer with a missing piece! I never thought I would be so into tableware, but my love of art along with my appreciation of antiques has resulted in a true addiction to tableware. The bad thing is, I’m exposed to so many interesting and beautiful things, it’s hard to decide on a favorite pattern(s)!”
