A year ago, if you had told Replacements, Ltd. Area Problems Order Specialist April Walker that she would own a dog, much less a big-breed dog like an American pit bull terrier, you would’ve been met with a great deal of skepticism. But 5-month-old “Joshua” and April are inseparable.
Joshua is the son of “
Charger” and “Remy,” whose owners also work at Replacements, Ltd. “Pit bulls have a terrible reputation and are intimidating because of the large size of their heads and their powerful and muscular builds,” April said. “But I would have to say that ‘Josh-Josh’ is truly one of my children. He is such a character and has such a terrific personality. He’s so playful and loving, at times you forget he is a dog!"
It’s been said that it takes a village to raise a child successfully and to raise a pit bull puppy successfully requires most of a department! In the Fulfillment Operations Department assisting April with her duties of keeping “Josh” fed and happily occupied are “aunts” Velma McBroom, Michelle Scott, Linda Jackson, Jovanka Milikic, Judy Fowler, Beckie Isley, Christina Phelps, Angela Mullins, Erin Cox, and “girlfriend” Yvonne Mercado. When April leaves Josh in her cubicle and goes out on the warehouse floor to help with orders, Josh will sometimes complain by whining or barking. His aunts and girlfriend make certain he has plenty of love, attention, toys, and treats, so he doesn’t get too lonely.
“He doesn’t like being left alone,” April said. “He’s such a big baby. I’m glad that Replacements, Ltd. has the pet-friendly policy, because I truly enjoy spending time with him. And it makes it possible for Josh to socialize with people and with other dogs. His best friend is Austin (who greets Replacements, Ltd. business visitors with his owner, Receptionist Yolanda Brown, when he’s not carousing with Josh). You should see them play together – it is too funny!” April said.
“The privilege of bringing Josh to work is just one of the many reasons I enjoy working at Replacements, Ltd.,” April said. “The atmosphere here is very inviting. The senior staff is very hands on; they will help us pull orders during our busy times. You feel that all of us are working together to provide the best customer service possible!”
Be warned: if you’re paying Replacements, Ltd. a visit, and you happen by Joshua and April’s desk, Josh is going to pick up one of his many toys and try to get you to play a game of tug!
