Replacements, Ltd. employee Tonya Minor was on her way to work one recent, chilly morning when she spotted three abandoned puppies huddled together near a busy intersection. Knowing she couldn’t just drive by, Tonya managed to get the puppies into her car and promptly brought them to Replacements with her. Pretty soon, word spread throughout the building that there was a box of stray puppies in front of the reception area. Margaret Elliott, a member of Replacements, Ltd. finance department, had already been talking with her husband about getting another dog as a companion for “Leo,” their yellow labrador, so she decided to go have a look.
“One of the pups was standing on her hind legs trying to get out of the box so she could play,” Margaret said. “That was it – I knew she was coming home with me!” Margaret called her husband, Marty, to see how mad he might get if she brought home a puppy, but he was fine with the idea. “Marty decided to name the puppy ‘Lucy’,” Margaret said. Leo, on the other hand, was a bit harder to convince! “Leo didn’t want to have much to do with Lucy when he first met her,” Margaret said, “It took a bit of convincing from us and Lucy, but they soon became buddies, and it is a lot of fun to watch them at play.”
In case you are wondering about the other puppies: thanks to several Replacements employees (dubbed the “Found Puppy Fan Club”), Lucy’s rescued siblings also found homes the very same day as Lucy! “One of the great things about working here at Replacements is the caring and generosity of our employees,” Margaret said. “There are many instances where animals in need have made their way to Replacements and found a permanent family. This couldn’t happen without the help and support of Replacements as a company.”
