“Zoe Ali” (named after Muhammad Ali) is a fourteen-month-old boxer and the grandpuppy of Pat Rice, a china/crystal inventory specialist at Replacements, Ltd. Zoe was only about eight weeks old when she was adopted by Pat’s daughter. “She was shy and timid at first, and remains that way now – until she gets to know you,” Pat said. “She learned how to sit and shake hands the first day my daughter had her, and she enjoys showing off her tricks. She even rolls over when you go ‘bang,’ like she’s been shot!” Pat said. Zoe also likes to go running with her mom, who is a marathon runner (Zoe only does short distances for now).
Zoe has been coming to work with Pat while her daughter, who’s a singer and songwriter in Nashville, has been traveling to write and present songs. While Zoe has been in North Carolina, she and her “grammie” have taken walks, run errands together, and taken rides in the country – Zoe’s even gone to daycare one day a week, which she loves. She’s made lots of new people and puppy friends in NC!
According to Pat, when she first started coming to Replacements, Zoe was skittish of all the movements, carts, people, and noises. But now she’s used to everything except the big construction crane! Most of the time, Zoe can be found lounging in her kennel. “Zoe also loves going into the Replacements, Ltd. retail store – a true girl who loves to shop!” Pat said. Zoe’s gotten lots of love and attention in the department, but doesn’t mind going back to her kennel when it’s time for everyone to work.
When asked about the pet-friendly policy at Replacements, Pat said, “Replacements’ pet-friendly policy has been a wonderful benefit, allowing me to keep my grandpuppy and enjoy her company throughout the day. After working for Replacements for five years, this was the first time there was a need to bring a pet to work, and it has been a great help to me and my daughter. I love working for a company that offers so many unique benefits to its employees and continues to think outside the box.”
