Blue Room Collection by Spode

This set of six dresser plates, featuring the "underglaze printing" process that Spode is famous for, is sure to catch the eye and add distinction to any room in your home. The Victorian Collection references designs from the original engraved copper plates used to produce Spode's Blue Imperialware. The dinner plates in this series depict scenes drawn from European history and ancient Roman artifacts.

Byron Groups - based loosely on scenes depicted in the poems of Lord George Gordon Noel Byron. Lord Byron lived from 1788 to 1824 and was among the most famous of the English "Romantic" poets. His contemporaries included John Keats and Percy Shelley. Being a very colorful man who possessed an incurable love for nature, the plate design bearing his name is centered with beautiful flowers.

Continental Views - based on scenes of Europe, with this plate in particular bearing an engraving that is thought to be a representation of Geneva, Switzerland. This ornate scene was registered by Spode in 1845.

Portland Vase - the center of this design is the famous Portland Vase. The vase dates back to the time of Augustus Caesar, and is noted for its cobalt blue coloring with white overlay cameos. The painstaking work of the artisans who created this vase is a fantastic example of the work of Roman "Common Era" art. The famous vase has been displayed in the British Museum since 1786.

Rural Scenes - a beautiful design derived from watercolor scenes of rural England.

Seasons - the four seasons are depicted in detail on the border of this plate. The center scene represents a design based on the different months of the year.

Warwick Vase - this majestic piece of Roman pottery was excavated near Tivoli in 1771. The urn-style vase was a part of the country villa of the Roman emperor Hadrian.
