Replacements Promotes Well-Being of Associates through Seventh Annual Wellness Fair
GREENSBORO, N.C., March 4, 2009 – As part of Replacements, Ltd.?s ongoing commitment to empowering associates to take control of their health, the company will hold its seventh annual Wellness Fair today from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Company leaders believe this event is more important than ever, especially considering reports indicating many Americans are opting to skip medical appointments due to economic hardships. ?The reality right now is that people are having to make hard decisions in choosing between health care and everyday expenses,? says Jeanine Falcon, Replacements? vice president of human resources. ?The more we can get in front of our employees and emphasize the importance of wellness, preventative care and medical attention by offering these services on-site, the more we hope to help detect potentially life threatening conditions that could go undiscovered. If we can catch certain conditions early before they become major problems, we can hopefully prevent emotional and financial stress later on for both our associates and the company.?
?Over the past few years, our company screenings have detected dozens of previously undiagnosed conditions including cardiac issues, thyroid problems, diabetes and four associates with prostate cancer, which includes company Founder and CEO Bob Page,? says Replacements? occupational health nurse and Wellness Fair coordinator Carol Harris.
The Wellness Fair is among many initiatives cited by the American Psychological Association in awarding Replacements with the APA?s 2009 Psychologically Healthy Workplace Award earlier this week. Replacements is one of only five companies across North America to receive this honor.
More than forty vendors from Alamance and Guilford counties are scheduled to be on-site counseling associates on traditional and holistic healthcare approaches. The Wellness Fair will offer testing in a number of areas, including cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes and HIV. Vendors scheduled to participate in the day long event include Alamance Regional Medical Center, the ARMC Norville Breast Center, the Moses Cone Group and the Guilford County Health Department, among others.
