American Clipper-Blue by Wedgwood China
| Wedgwood China’s American Clipper-Blue is a nautically-themed, multi-motif pattern with captivating intricate images of 19th century clipper ships, derived from original Wedgwood engravings. The pattern is crafted in high-quality, multi-sided whiteware shapes with embossed borders and inner verge lines adorned with a blue rope design. Clipper ships were sleek, multi-masted sailing ships that were built for speed. (The term “clipper” was used throughout the 16th and 17th centuries to describe very fast horses.) The great era of clipper ships started in the 1840s, and was fueled by the craze for tea in the Western world. The fastest clipper ships could rush tea from China to London or New York in 90 to 120 days, instead of the previous 6 to 9 months! What is especially exciting is that this month we offer no less than seven different specially priced 4-piece sets! Start below to take advantage of great values, in a historically-themed pattern!
