The Blue Danube pattern is an underglaze copper plate engraving of Meissen blue on translucent porcelain, and was created in 1951. Blue Danube was inspired by a similar pattern created during the Yuan dynasty(1260-1368 A.D.), which preceded the Ming dynasty in China. The flowers in the Blue Danube pattern depict the ancient Chinese symbols of good fortune and happiness. The original design, with some variations, made its way to Europe and has been produced for over 200 years.
Blue Danube by Blue Danube China is currently produced in a Japanese factory that dates back many generations. Now exclusively distributed by Lipper International Inc., Blue Danube pieces are subject to a strict inspection process to insure the highest quality product.
