Watch Expert Buyer (Vintage)

Bench Jeweler

We are looking for a Bench Jeweler to join our talented staff of professionals in our growing estate jewelry department. As the Bench Jeweler, you will assess and intake Estate Jewelry product, not limited to but including karat gold/platinum and gem/diamond setting for fine repairs by demonstrating excellent skills and workmanship. You must also be well-spoken, able to communicate well with professional sales and support staff, as well as with customers, clients, and manager.

Key Responsibilities and Requirements

  • Inspects Estate Jewelry product submitted for repair and determines whether it is cost effective for quality repair
  • Interacts with customers to facilitate special orders and custom designs, as needed
  • Sets gemstones and diamonds: prong, bezel, channel, bead, rub and hammer
  • Finishes, polishes, and sizes rings
  • Resets and/or tightens gemstones/diamonds
  • Performs soldering, gluing pearls, and rhodium plating
  • Responsible for maintaining jeweler’s tools and equipment and for managing the workshop supplies, precious metal parts (findings), and stones needed to complete jobs
  • Ensures that the image database is complete, accurate, and up-to-date by submitting pieces for image in a timely manner and in compliance with the department imaging criteria
  • Must be customer service minded with a high standard for quality work
  • Must be organized, detail-oriented, and be able to prioritize, meeting deadlines in a frequently fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to work independently, collaborate with appropriate members of staff as needed and contribute as a member of our professional team
  • Must be flexible and able to manage multiple tasks and priorities
  • Must have strong English communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Must be able to independently structure and organize regular working activities while maintaining an orderly and clean work area

Equipment and Tools

  • Must demonstrate the ability to work quickly and precisely with a wide range of jewelry manufacturing tools, machines, and equipment necessary for precious metals assembly and restorations.
  • Must have a required attention to safety and knowledge of the hazards associated with each chemical/tool/machine

Education and Other Specialized Skills

  • Previous experience in a Bench Jeweler position required
  • Must have a minimum of 3-5 years related experience in gem/jewelry repair, GIA graduate Jeweler preferred
  • Knowledge of gemstone, diamonds, gem identification equipment, and Estate Jewelry
  • AGS certified, JA certified, MJSA certified, Graduate Jeweler diploma (GIA) or Graduate Gemologist certificate (GIA) is strongly preferred but not required


Gemologist

We are looking for a Gemologist to join our talented staff of professionals in our growing estate jewelry department. The Gemologist reviews and makes offers, establishes pricing, and processes estate jewelry merchandise. This position researches and prepares the merchandise for sale while maintains Replacements’ excellent level of customer service.

Key Responsibilities and Requirements

  • Inspects estate jewelry merchandise for quality and determines whether it is appropriate for Replacements to purchase
  • Makes offers on estate jewelry merchandise, researching the piece if necessary
  • Evaluates incoming items in priority order to maximize sales
  • Updates inventory database as needed after purchase and processes receipts
  • Prepares merchandise for inventory and display as appropriate
  • Assists other staff with pricing and product questions
  • Must demonstrate professionalism, courtesy, and awareness of daily departmental service level
  • Updates and prepares reports as directed
  • Must be able to identify all manner of stones and precious metals
  • Must be able to operate specialized inventory computer systems to level required by position
  • Must be able to operate a metal analyzer when needed to identify metal composition
  • Must be able to independently structure and organize regular working activities
  • Must be able to follow detailed procedures and recognize detailed differences in product
  • Must be flexible and able to manage multiple tasks and priorities
  • Must be familiar with a variety of computer programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Must have strong English communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Must have organized work habits and be willing to maintain orderly and clean work area

Education and Other Specialized Skills

  • Must have minimum of 2 years related experienced in gem/jewelry appraisal.
  • Knowledge of gemstone, diamonds, gem identification equipment, and estate jewelry required.
  • ASA, NAJA, ISA, or AGS certified, or Graduate Gemologist certificate is preferable but not required.


Watch Expert Buyer (Vintage)

We are looking for a Vintage Watch Expert Buyer to join our talented staff of professionals in our growing estate jewelry department. As the Vintage Watch Expert Buyer, you will oversee the facilitation of all watches within the watch department. The function of this role is to evaluate, identify the authenticity, value, and provide detailed documentation by performing minute observations for purchasing. You will apply and use valuation theory training, tools, and a variety of skills when conducting initial inquiries of incoming merchandise submitted for examination. Market research will be conducted through reference books, auction catalogs, and industry price lists when forming a qualified opinion. The buyer role is passionate about branded products, enthusiastic about analyzing and investigating purchasing and sales results, stays aware of product trends in the respective markets we are operating in and is eager to buy the most and the best products at the best prices for the company and its customers.

Key Responsibilities and Requirements

  • Assists the lead Gemologist to identify future product opportunities, trends, and offerings which will impact the business
  • Focus on future of business by thinking about trends and opportunities proactively
  • Work alongside visual merchandising partners on monthly floorset walk-thrus and overall product placement in stores
  • Execute all aspects of the authentication and pricing process by accurately identifying attributes of the watch
  • Set list prices for all watch brands with direction and final approval from management
  • Research fair market value and market demand of watches
  • Adhere to first in, first out methodology to ensure all consignments are prioritized and product flows according to plan
  • Must have a knowledge of watch industry pricing and authenticity
  • Must demonstrate Excellent negotiation skills
  • Must be customer service minded with a high standard for quality work
  • Must be organized, detail-oriented, and be able to prioritize, meeting deadlines in a frequently fast-paced environment
  • Must have strong English communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Must be able to work independently, collaborate with appropriate members of staff as needed and contribute as a member of our professional team

Education and Other Specialized Skills

  • 5+ years of wholesale selling experience in a jewelry, watch or luxury goods organization
  • Minor repairs of watches experience (preferred)
  • Above average level of hand dexterity and focus to handle small parts, with a strong attention to detail (preferred)
