Bench Jeweler
Web Developer 2

Bench Jeweler

We are looking for a Bench Jeweler to join our talented staff of professionals in our growing estate jewelry department. As the Bench Jeweler, you will assess and intake Estate Jewelry product, not limited to but including karat gold/platinum and gem/diamond setting for fine repairs by demonstrating excellent skills and workmanship. You must also be well-spoken, able to communicate well with professional sales and support staff, as well as with customers, clients, and manager.

Key Responsibilities and Requirements

  • Inspects Estate Jewelry product submitted for repair and determines whether it is cost effective for quality repair
  • Interacts with customers to facilitate special orders and custom designs, as needed
  • Sets gemstones and diamonds: prong, bezel, channel, bead, rub and hammer
  • Finishes, polishes, and sizes rings
  • Resets and/or tightens gemstones/diamonds
  • Performs soldering, gluing pearls, and rhodium plating
  • Responsible for maintaining jeweler’s tools and equipment and for managing the workshop supplies, precious metal parts (findings), and stones needed to complete jobs
  • Ensures that the image database is complete, accurate, and up-to-date by submitting pieces for image in a timely manner and in compliance with the department imaging criteria
  • Must be customer service minded with a high standard for quality work
  • Must be organized, detail-oriented, and be able to prioritize, meeting deadlines in a frequently fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to work independently, collaborate with appropriate members of staff as needed and contribute as a member of our professional team
  • Must be flexible and able to manage multiple tasks and priorities
  • Must have strong English communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Must be able to independently structure and organize regular working activities while maintaining an orderly and clean work area

Equipment and Tools

  • Must demonstrate the ability to work quickly and precisely with a wide range of jewelry manufacturing tools, machines, and equipment necessary for precious metals assembly and restorations.
  • Must have a required attention to safety and knowledge of the hazards associated with each chemical/tool/machine

Education and Other Specialized Skills

  • Previous experience in a Bench Jeweler position required
  • Must have a minimum of 3-5 years related experience in gem/jewelry repair, GIA graduate Jeweler preferred
  • Knowledge of gemstone, diamonds, gem identification equipment, and Estate Jewelry
  • AGS certified, JA certified, MJSA certified, Graduate Jeweler diploma (GIA) or Graduate Gemologist certificate (GIA) is strongly preferred but not required


Web Developer 2

We are looking for a Web Developer to join our talented staff of professionals in our Information Services Department. As the Web Developer, you will assist with analyzing, designing, coding, modifying and testing web applications and interfaces; as well as creating, implementing, testing, and maintaining web content for Replacements’ Internet, Intranet, and Extranet web sites.

Key Responsibilities and Requirements

  • Develops the web interface per internal clients’ needs and requirements
  • Codes, tests, and debugs web interface components
  • Ensures code compatibility on major browsers and across desktop, tablet and mobile platforms
  • Creates and implements web content for replacements.com, Intranet, and other corporate web assets, as directed by management; performs design tasks which may require extensive research and analysis
  • Updates new content as required for replacements.com, Intranet, and STAR Supplier web site as requested from internal customers in various departments
  • Writes promotional and informational copy for web site as needed
  • Reviews and recommends edits to product descriptions and information from external departments to be published to replacements.com, ensuring correct grammar and syntax
  • Communicates project status (hours, progress, delays, and completion) in a reliable and accurate manner
  • Documents all systems/products designed and modified
  • Reviews and tests company web sites daily to ensure continuous uptime and proper functioning
  • Assists with resolving web-related technical and support issues
  • Suggests new ideas to increase overall usability and effectiveness of company web sites
  • Assists in maintaining web page design layouts according to company specification
  • Provides Technical Support as required during and after normal business hours
  • In rotation with others as assigned, provides for after-hours/on-call support of the department

Education and Other Specialized Skills

  • Requires thorough knowledge of effective web site design based on audience characteristics and behavior, purpose of site, site structure, and demonstrates the ability to effectively suggest improvements to site design based on user feedback, both direct and passive
  • Must have an understanding of Web history and web architecture including DNS, routers, URLs, intranets, and extranets, along with an understanding of Internet services including FTP, Telnet, Usenet, and HTTP protocol
  • Requires knowledge of internet-standard web browsers and development requirements for each
  • Requires a minimum of 2 years professional experience with essential web technologies including (X)HTML, XML/XSL, JSON, DOM2, and other schema related to HTML standards.
  • Requires minimum of 2 years experience with web development tools including both WYSIWYG and code-based development tools. Must be able to perform front-end web site development using web site editing software and hand-coded HTML as needed
  • Requires experience with cascading style sheets including syntax, functionality, inclusion options, and compatibility issues.
  • Requires minimum of 2 years experience designing and implementing web applications and content with PHP, JavaScript, and JavaScript related frameworks. Perl and/or Java a plus.
  • Requires demonstrated results working with forms including form elements, form design, and processing form data
  • Knowledge of object-oriented programming and related design concepts required
  • Requires web graphics processing and optimization experience including knowledge of image formats, image maps, static images, and experience with graphic design tools. Audio and video experience a plus
  • Experience with data sources, relational databases, client-server concepts, ODBC, NoSQL, and SQL strongly preferred
  • Must have ability to use reports to regularly analyze key measured web site performance areas including site performance from a customer service and marketing perspective, and areas for improvement in web site
  • Understanding of HTTP service, experience managing directories, managing site access, generating log files, web server security, and script management required.
  • Interest in and ability to monitor and understand developing trends in Internet and web technology required
  • Experience managing web content required. Experience with Linux, Apache, and Linux scripting a plus.
  • Experience working with a Content Management Tool preferred, Drupal a plus.
