Vera Stewart is a Southern cooking host, entrepreneur, caterer, mail-order pioneer, cookbook author, and mentor.
After earning a home economics degree from the University of Georgia in 1974, she taught high school for four years before launching a catering business from home. Her big break came with the 1983 inaugural luncheon for Governor Joe Frank Harris. In 1984, she founded the VeryVera brand, growing it into a multifaceted catering and mail-order business with national reach.
“Cooking up tradition, one unforgettable episode at a time.” The VeryVera Show launched in Augusta, GA, in 2012 and is now in its 14th season, reaching 71 markets nationwide. After winning a “Carrot Cake Throwdown” against Bobby Flay, Vera began hosting her own show, sharing classic recipes and fresh entertaining ideas. Featuring celebrity guests and rising chefs, the program reflects her 40+ years in hospitality. Vera is also the author of two cookbooks and hosts a popular annual children’s cooking camp.
